BeneMeat unveils cutting-edge cell bank

An essential part of ethical and sustainable cultivated meat production

More than 5,000 samples have already been stored in the cell bank of the leading biotech company, BeneMeat. This bank, allowing the cultivation of meat without the need for animal slaughter, is the result of several years of research by this successful startup. Its existence ensures access to a sufficient quantity and variety of cells that can be cultivated for both research and production purposes.

“The cell bank is a crucial element in our effort to produce meat in an ethical and sustainable way. From the very outset, we knew that it would be essential to our success. Advanced cell preservation technology is critical to the smooth progress of both our research and cultivated meat production. With its use, we can meet the demand for meat without a negative impact on animals and the environment. In our research and production, we mainly use primary cells directly sourced from small tissue samples, ensuring both high quality and an ethical approach.” Ing. Zuzana Šaturová, Manager of the Cell Bank explains.

Key advantages of the cell bank:
1. Ethical approach to animals: A single, small tissue sample extraction creates a long-term supply of cells for meat cultivation without the need for animal death or suffering.
2. Cutting-edge technology: The facility utilizes the most advanced technology to preserve cells under optimal conditions.
3. Maximum purity and stability: Thanks to advanced technology, strict protocols, and control mechanisms, we guarantee consistent quality and safety throughout the entire process.
4. Sample safety: Security systems ensure continuity even in the event of emergencies.
5. Universal technology: This technology allows the preservation of cells and the cultivation of meat from various animal species, ranging from common farm animals to exotic species, without negatively impacting live animals.
6. Replicability: Standardized procedures ensure repeatability in the successful preservation of cells.

Cultivated meat
a term referring to meat (including muscle cells, fat cells, connective tissue, blood, and other components) produced by cultivating animal cells, not by slaughtering a live animal. (Source: New Harvest – a research institute that aims to accelerate progress in cellular agriculture).
BeneMeat
BeneMeat is a biotech company focused on developing scalable and efficient cultivated meat production technology. Since 2020, we’ve developed deep, end-to-end expertise across biology, chemistry, hardware, software, and commercial implementation of cultivated meat. With 100+ R&D experts, we are building the complete technological ecosystem, from versatile cell line development to scalable, reliable, and cost-effective manufacturing solutions. We’re well prepared to support manufacturers through all the key challenges of bringing cultivated meat to market: technical, legal, regulatory, and commercial. We were also the first in the EU to be registered as a producer of cultivated meat for pet food (Autumn 2023), proving our regulatory leadership in this space. We are not just another company in cultivated meat, we are the technology partner shaping its future.
